Álvaro Bautista is a Spanish professional motorcycle racer who had competed in the 125cc (2002-2006), 250cc (2007-2009), and the MotoGP (2010-2018) competition tiers of the Grand Prix World Championship. He had become the world champion in the 125cc Grand Prix motorcycle racing season in 2006. In the 250cc tier, he had finished 2nd overall in the 2008 season. His best performance in the MotoGP tier was a 5th place finish in 2012. After leaving MotoGP in 2018, he began participating in the Superbike World Championship and had finished 2nd overall in his debut season (2019).

He had started riding a motorcycle at the age of just 3 years. Impressed by his talent, his father, a motorcycle repair shop owner, had built him a bike from scratch. 5 years later, he had participated in his first competitive race.

In just his 2nd season in the Madrid Minimoto Championship, he had finished as a runner-up. Thereafter, he had won the tournament for 3 years in a row.

In 2001, he had entered the 125cc Spanish Championship, However, the team that he had joined had folded halfway through the season due to financial reasons. He was then signed up for the remainder of the season by the iconic Atlético Madrid team.

The following year, he was in contention for the 125cc Spanish Championship title until the last race of the season in Valencia. He had set pole position in the race but had to be content with a 5th-place finish with the race after a crash, ending up as the overall season runner-up.

In 2003, he had won the tournament with 2 races to go. His season was so dominant that he had finished each race on the podium and had recorded 5 consecutive pole-to-victory finishes.

When he had become the world champion in the 125cc Grand Prix motorcycle racing season in 2006, he had won 8 of the 16 races and had finished on the podium in 14 of those races.
